Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, located in Jackson Park, is one of the largest Science Museum in the western hemisphere. Thanks to Julius Rosenwald, then head of Sears Roebuck & Company, who helped the city pass a $5 million bond to restore the Palace of Fine Arts building. The Museum of Science and Industry opened in 1928 and has grown to include a re-creation of Illinois coal mind, an Zephyr train, U-505 German submarine, Apollo 8 Spacecraft, Boeing 727, train collection, and so much more.
