Taliesin West was Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home, studio, and school in Scottsdale Arizona from 1937 until his death in 1959. Frank Lloyd Wright felt strongly about connecting with the environment and in the desert it was long, low, sweeping lines, up tilting planes, and colors. The structure walls are made of local desert rocks, stacked within wood forms and filled with concrete. The roof was canvas which played an important part of the design by capturing the natural light.
