Leavenworth Washington

Levenworth is located on the southeast side of the Cascade Loop, a popular scenic drive in Washington.  The town originally started in 1893 with the construction of the railroad and was incorporated in 1906 as a small timber community.  In 1920’s the railroad relocated and greatly affected Leavenworth’s economy.  1962 Project LIFE was formed in partnership with the University of Washington to revitalize the struggling logging town.  A sub committee made a trip to Solvang, a Danish-themed town to build support for the idea of creating Leavenworth into a themed town.  The entire town is now centered as a modeled Bavarian village.
