Descanso Gardens located in La Canada Flintridge, once belonging to E. Manchester Boody who owned the Los Angeles Daily News.  Purchased in 1930 Boddy bought the 165 acres of land for a ranch, new home and commercial camellia nursery.  Boddy opened his garden in march 1950, retired in 1952 and sold the property to Los Angeles.
