Crater lake is located 60 miles northwest of Klamath County, formed in a volcanic crater and is famous for its deep blue color and water clarity. The lake is 5 by 6 miles across, has an average depth of 1,148 and maximum depth of 1,949, making Crater Lake the deepest lake in the United States. There are no inlets or rivers flowing into the lake, its only water source comes from rain and snowfall.
